The Human Book Library is a peace project where refugees themselves become “Human Books” and talk directly with readers. It is run by MAP (Migration to Asia Peace), and its goal is to reduce prejudice against refugees and build mutual understanding through one-on-one or small-group conversations, rather than lectures or presentations.
About the Project
Since 2021, MAP has been running the Human Book Library in both online and in-person formats. So far the project has reached 2,036 readers across 14 cities around Korea, and it is considered one of the most impactful programmes MAP runs for raising awareness of refugee rights and diversity. The project will keep going, with the aim of building a deeper understanding of refugees within Korean society over the long term.
