PODO Museum is an art museum located in Seogwipo, Jeju Island, South Korea. It is currently hosting a special exhibition titled ‘Yet, With Love’, which places refugees, migrants, and everyone building a new life far from their hometown at the very center of the story. Members of the MAP (Migration to Asia Peace) community are warmly welcome to take part in a special participatory project connected to this exhibition.
About the Exhibition
The exhibition takes ‘diaspora and all minorities of the world’ as its theme, using art to show just how much people from very different backgrounds actually share with one another. At its heart, the exhibition moves beyond the hatred and discrimination directed at refugees, migrants, and people living outside their home countries, and points toward a vision of inclusion and coexistence.
Seven internationally recognized artists, including Yoko Ono and Ugo Rondinone, are participating, presenting works in a wide range of forms including painting, sculpture, and media installation.
The Participatory Project: ‘A Thousand Dawns’
Inside the exhibition space, there is a large installation area made up of LED panels. Across this space, the birth years and birthplaces (country and city) of refugees and people living abroad flow gently past, and visitors walk through the current of all those names.
The work remembers and records each person’s existence without revealing any identifying personal information. No names are collected. All you need to provide is your birth year and your birthplace.

Why This Project Matters
Many refugees and migrants in Korea live as though they are invisible. This project does not ask for your name or your story. It simply records, in the language of art, the fact that ‘here, in this year, in this place on earth, one person was born.’ When you participate, your existence shines quietly and warmly inside the exhibition space.
Please do not worry. No information that could identify you as an individual is collected at all.
