The Climate Justice March is a citizens’ march calling for equal and dignified lives for those hit hardest by the climate crisis. Civil society organizations from many fields — environment, labor, poverty, women’s rights, youth, and more — join forces and take to the streets every year. MAP (Migration to Asia Peace, an organization that supports migrants and refugees) also takes part.

What is Climate Justice?

Climate Justice is the idea that climate change is not simply an environmental issue — it is a human issue. As the climate crisis deepens, people who are already marginalized or in vulnerable situations suffer far greater harm. Climate disasters, food shortages, wars, and the displacement of refugees are all deeply connected; the climate crisis makes an already unequal world even more unequal. Climate Justice is a movement that looks this inequality in the eye and calls for protecting those who are harmed first.

Why March?

The march is a way for all of us to raise our voices together so that everyone can live with equality and dignity in the face of injustice. It carries three specific messages to the world:

  1. No more lives lost to climate disasters — we demand action together.
  2. Energy should be managed as a public good, not a profit-making tool — we call for moving away from nuclear and coal and transitioning to publicly owned renewable energy.
  3. Immediately stop development projects that destroy nature, such as new airport construction, cable car projects, and the Four Rivers Project.
