The Climate Card (기후동행카드) is an all-in-one unlimited transit pass for Seoul. Pay once, and for the period you choose you can ride Seoul’s subway, buses, and Ttareungyi public bicycles as many times as you like. New targeted discounts have been added for teens, parents with multiple children, and low-income residents, and the card’s coverage has also expanded to include parts of Gyeonggi Province just outside Seoul. Read through the details below to get the most out of your transit spending.
Coverage
Modes of Transport You Can Use
- Subway: All lines within Seoul + selected sections in Gyeonggi Province listed below
- Bus: Seoul-licensed city buses, village buses, branch-route buses, trunk-route buses, late-night buses, and circular buses (express intercity buses excluded)
- Ttareungyi: Seoul’s public bike-share, unlimited use
- Hangang River Bus: Unlimited use when you add the River Bus fare option (see “River Bus Option” below)
Areas in Gyeonggi Province Where the Card Works
In addition to Seoul’s own subway network, the Climate Card can be used on subway sections running through Gimpo, Namyangju, Guri, Gwacheon, Goyang, Seongnam, and Hanam in Gyeonggi Province.
Transport NOT Covered
- Sinbundang Line
- Subway stations outside Seoul (including specific stations in Gyeonggi Province sections that are excluded)
- Express intercity buses and airport buses
- Buses licensed by other regions (Gyeonggi Province, Incheon, etc.)
Important Notes When Using the Subway
If you board at a station within the card’s coverage area and exit at a station outside it, the Climate Card cannot be used for that trip. For example, if you board at Jongno 3-ga (Seoul) and exit at Indeokwon (Gyeonggi Province), station staff will collect a separate fare from you at the exit gate.
Exception: If you depart from a station within the coverage area and exit at a station on Line 7 (Seongnam to Kkachiul) or the Airport Railroad (Incheon Airport Terminal 1 to Incheon Airport Terminal 2), that is allowed. However, you may not board at those stations using the Climate Card.
Check Your Route in Advance
Even within Gyeonggi Province, there are sections where the Climate Card does not work. Before you travel, it is a good idea to confirm that your starting station or bus route is covered by using the Climate Card service-area search.

How to Qualify for Discounts
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify as a multi-child parent, you must be raising two or more children, at least one of whom is 18 years old or younger. For the low-income discount, you must be a National Basic Living Security recipient or a near-poverty household as defined under the National Basic Living Security Act.
Residency Requirement
The multi-child parent and low-income discounts are available to residents who are registered (주민등록) in Seoul, or in the following cities in Gyeonggi Province: Gimpo, Namyangju, Guri, Gwacheon, Goyang, Seongnam, or Hanam.
How to Verify Your Eligibility
From 2025 onward, the discount will be applied automatically at the time of payment if you are eligible — but you must first complete a verification step on the T-money Card & Pay website before you pay.
- Verification is required once per year.
- One person, one card rule: The discount applies to only one card per person — either the mobile card or the physical card that you registered.
Exceptions When Your Registered Address Does Not Match Your Actual Residence
If online verification is not possible — for example, if your registered address (주민등록 주소) differs from where you actually live — you can send a family relationship certificate issued within the past month and any other required documents to the T-money customer centre email address (helper@tmoneycsp.co.kr) to still receive the discount.
Card Types
| Type | For |
|---|---|
| Mobile card | Android smartphones running OS 12 or higher |
| Physical card | iPhone (iOS) users, or anyone who finds it difficult to use a smartphone |
Hangang River Bus Option
A new “River Bus option” was added when the Hangang River Bus launched on 18 September 2025, letting you ride it without limit. It is available as a 30-day pass. Simply add 5,000 won to your existing fare option and the River Bus is included with no extra trips to pay for.
Note: If you are currently using a different fare option, refund it first and then load the River Bus option as a new charge.
Refunds
- Refund formula: Amount charged - actual transit use - handling fee of 500 won
- You must apply for a refund while the pass is still valid. Once the usage period has expired, refunds are not available for any card — whether it is in good condition or lost or broken.
- Foreign nationals without a Korean bank account can visit T-money headquarters in person to receive a cash refund.
