Did you miss the vaccination sign-up window for your age group, or has something made it hard to get your COVID-19 vaccine until now? No worries! Foreigners and refugees can also get vaccinated through the same-day leftover vaccine booking system. There are three main ways to book, so just pick the one that works best for your situation. Before you apply, please confirm the latest details, including numbers and deadlines, by calling 1345 (Immigration Contact Center), 1339 (the COVID-19 hotline), or your local community health center.

Method 1. Book through the Naver or Kakao app

Search for “잔여백신” (leftover vaccine) in these apps to see real-time availability at nearby clinics and book instantly.

Searching with NAVER

  • Option A. Open the Naver app or the Naver Maps app and search “잔여백신”
  • Option B. Go to naver.com in your phone’s browser and search “잔여백신”

Searching with KAKAO

  • Option A. In KakaoTalk, tap the “View (#)” tab at the bottom and select the “잔여백신” tab
  • Option B. Open the Kakao Maps app and search “잔여백신”

How the booking works

  1. Choose a contracted clinic that has leftover vaccines available.
  2. Tap the “Book” button, your same-day booking is confirmed right away.
  3. You will need to verify your identity during booking. If you already have a Naver Certificate or Kakao Certificate, you can skip the identity verification step.

Method 2. Call a contracted clinic directly

If you have an Alien Registration Number, you can call a contracted clinic directly, check whether they have leftover vaccines, and make a same-day booking over the phone. You can find a list of contracted clinics near you on the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) COVID-19 Vaccination website (ncv.kdca.go.kr).

Method 3. Visit your local community health center in person

If you do not have an Alien Registration Number, for example, if you are an asylum seeker or certain short-term visitors, you cannot book through the Naver or Kakao apps. In that case, visit your nearest community health center (보건소) in person. Staff there will issue you a temporary identification number, and you can then book and receive your vaccine.

Get notified so you don’t have to keep checking

If there’s a particular clinic you’d like to use, you can register up to 5 clinics in advance and receive an alert as soon as leftover vaccines become available there.

  1. On the leftover vaccine search screen, select the clinic you want and tap “Request notification.”
  2. When leftover vaccines become available, you will get an alert via Naver notifications or the KakaoTalk Wallet channel.
  3. Once you receive the alert, tap “Same-day booking” to complete your reservation.

Important things to know

  • You must get vaccinated the same day. If you make a same-day leftover vaccine booking, you have to go to that clinic and get vaccinated on that day.
  • Cancel if you can’t make it. If something comes up and you cannot go, please call the clinic and ask to cancel. If you simply don’t show up without canceling, you may lose the ability to make same-day bookings in the future.
  • First come, first served. Same-day leftover vaccine bookings are processed in the order they are received.
  • No double booking. If you have already been vaccinated, or if you already have a pre-booked appointment, you cannot use the leftover vaccine same-day booking system.
  • Age restrictions for certain vaccines. The AstraZeneca and Janssen vaccines are not given to people under 30 (born on or after January 1, 1992). The vaccines being offered and the age rules can change, so please check with your community health center or call 1339 before going.
